Our director, Gabriel Goodhart, grew up in Oakland and East Africa in the 80’s and 90’s and those experiences have defined his values as an adult. From the War on Drugs in Oakland to the opening of the historic San Francisco Cannabis Buyers Club, the Bay Area was the birthplace of cannabis culture and represented the best and the worst of drug policies. In the East African communities where Gabe spent his childhood, sustainable farming is an imperative and its efficient, regenerative practices inform Gabe’s own cultivation methods to this day.

Gabe holds duel degrees in Environmental Science and Political Science from U.C. Santa Cruz, and has worked as a financial planner, a small business owner, a silkscreener, a non-profit researcher, and a camp counselor. He has travelled the world from Nairobi to Medellin for the purpose of working with and learning from local farmers.

In 2006, Gabe formed Oakland Farm and Feed which provided equipment and services to the medical cannabis industry. At Oakland Farm and Feed, Gabe designed, constructed, and managed operations and plant cultivation in projects totaling over 250,000 square feet of indoor canopy, 100 acres of greenhouse and mixed light canopy, and converted over 10,000 acres of land into infrastructure required for the running of commercial cannabis facilities. In 2008 Oakland Farm and Feed partnered with Dosatron, Inc. to bring to market its automated nutrient fertigation systems that are now used in over half of all commercial hydroponic facilities in the U.S.

Oak Off Group came together in 2021. While the name might be new, Gabe and the other members of OOG are a close knit team who have worked together for years, or in some cases decades, in the field of commercial cannabis.
